Symposium gathers specialists to discuss innovation and sustainability in livestock farming
The Pecege Institute, in Piracicaba (SP), hosted, on September 10 and 11, 2026, the 32nd Symposium on Pasture Management. Promoted by the Department of Animal Science of the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (Esalq/USP) and the Luiz de Queiroz Agrarian Studies Foundation (Fealq), the event gathered researchers, professionals, producers, students, and agribusiness representatives.
With the theme “Sustainable intensification of livestock farming: the role of intercropped and multispecies pastures”, the symposium discussed alternatives to reconcile productivity and sustainability in animal production systems. The program addressed pasture management, the use of intercropped species, biological nitrogen fixation, carbon sequestration, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The discussions also covered strategies capable of contributing to the efficiency of livestock production. By bringing together research results, field experiences, and market demands, the meeting opened space for debate on solutions applicable to the current challenges of agribusiness.
Holding the symposium at the Pecege Institute reinforced Piracicaba’s vocation as a hub of knowledge and innovation linked to agribusiness. The event also brought together educational and research institutions, professionals, producers, companies, and organizations involved with the different links of the production chain.
For Daniela Flôres, manager of Pecege’s Business Hub, meetings like the symposium broaden the dialogue between professionals and organizations and help keep up with the sector’s transformations.
“Hosting an event like the Symposium on Pasture Management is an opportunity to bring together knowledge, professionals, and organizations around a strategic theme for agribusiness. This connection allows for expanding relationships, understanding market demands, and identifying new possibilities for collaboration,” she states.
The closing was marked by the launch of Moacyr Corsi’s biographical book, who was present at the event and received a tribute for his career and contribution to the field. The moment highlighted the specialist’s work in knowledge production and livestock development.
Throughout the two days, the symposium promoted the exchange of experiences among different audiences linked to animal production and contributed to broadening the discussion on efficiency, innovation, and sustainability in livestock farming.
